PILL: Physical Internet Living Lab

The cSBO project PILL, carried out by VIL, imec, and MOBI VUB, aims to enhance logistical processes by utilizing the concept of the Physical Internet. This initiative seeks to make processes more efficient, reliable, flexible, and sustainable. The project will develop an IT system prototype that enables naval ports to integrate into the Physical Internet.

BOOSTLOG

The European Union invests significantly in research for transport and logistics to enhance competitiveness and address climate change. The BOOSTLOG project, in which VIL is a partner, aims to gather and amplify the impact of these projects.

Self-service in Logistics

VIL Testkit Social Distancing Alarms

Social distancing measures continue to play an important role in controlling COVID-19. It is a major challenge for production companies, retailers, and logistics service providers to always maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters between their operators. Therefore, VIL has made test kits with social distancing alarms available to companies with logistics operations.

Warehouse 24/7

In the project Warehouse 24/7 VIL has developed an overall concept to enable 24/7 deliveries. VIL strives for a better use of the existing private and public infrastructure. At the same time the project provides a solution for the increasing queue times at loading and unloading areas and congestion on the roads.

TOKEN

The Horizon 2020 project TOKEN is researching the added value of using “Distributed Ledger Technologies” (DLT) such as blockchain in the public sector. This project will focus on aspects of urban logistics, including smart loading and unloading areas, as well as locations for mobile delivery points.

The AI4Cast project, a collaboration between HOWest, Sirris, and VIL, aimed to explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing supply chain forecasting and planning.

Innovation is important. Innovation makes for better margins, for a better world, but innovation is not always easy and success is not always guaranteed. It also requires substantial investment and resources.
