Plastics Recycling Hub

The circular economy is very important in the transition to a sustainable society. The extensive Flemish chemical sector also has its eyes on a circular future. VIL and VITO, together with the logistics, recycling and chemistry sectors, want to take important steps in the development of Flanders as a plastics recycling hub for Europe.

Delivery Booster

The current postal address system is not adapted to the logistic requirements for delivering goods. In this project VIL will develop an app that allows companies to determine more specific location codes, along with a delivery passport that connects the location codes to individual delivery wishes and specifications.

The LSI is the first index that provides insight into the general sustainability performance of a company’s logistic activities.  This yearly index is a powerful instrument to calculate a sustainability score, based on defined criteria.

Exoskeletons for Logistics

With this project VIL has examined how the new generation of exoskeletons can be used for manuel activities in the logistics sector. The objective was to reduce physical strain for employees and to increase productivity of repetitive tasks and heavy lifting.

Blockchain in Supply Chains

With this project VIL investigated the added value of blockchain technology in logistic applications. The focus of this project were sectors where a safe supply chain is a high priority, like the food, chemical and life science sector. VIL has also examined how blockchain relates to other track & trace solutions in these sectors.

Cambion

The sharing economy is undeniably on the rise and will become an important part of the economy. With the project Cambion VIL has investigated if the principle of car sharing is applicable in the logistics sector, as so called ‘fleet sharing’.
