Optiplan

The project ‘OptiPlan’ aims to optimize the processes of planning and delivering of goods to warehouses and distribution centers. On the one hand, OptiPlan wants to reduce the waiting hours and the additional kilometers driven to warehouses and DC’s. On the other hand this project aims to optimize the overall operation of loading and unloading zones.

status: Running | type: Regional

Currently there are already shippers using slot booking systems to which carriers have to sign up a day ahead to obtain a slot for loading and unloading operations. However besides this group, there are still shippers who do not make any or only a limited planning with their suppliers. This way of working leads in the majority of the cases to a lot of idle times and additional re-registration at warehouses and DC’s.

With this project VIL wants to optimize the planning processes (by) using available data so that the amount of waiting hours and the additional kilometers can be reduced and that staffing at DC’s can be optimized. An end-to-end approach has to lead to a win-win optimization for both carriers and shippers.
